What is Prolific?

Prolific is a platform where you can participate in online research studies and get paid fairly for your time.

Researchers from universities and organizations worldwide use Prolific to find participants for their studies. You'll contribute to real research, share your perspective, and get paid for your time.

How to register

1. Open your registration link

   Follow the link you’ve been given to start registering on Prolific.

2. Create your profile

   Sign up using details that match your official ID. This helps us verify your account later.

   You’ll be asked for:

   • Your name
   • Email address
   • Date of birth
   • Sex

3. Tell us a bit about yourself

   You’ll answer some questions about:

   • Where you live and where you’re from
   • Your language(s)
   • Your education

   Researchers use this information to invite the right participants to their studies.

4. Submit your registration

   Once you’ve completed the form, submit your details.

What happens next?

If you're invited to join Prolific, we'll email you with next steps. This may take up to one working day if you meet the required criteria. You don't need to re-register or create another account while you wait.

How to verify your account

Create a password

• Use at least 10 characters for your password.

Verify your phone number

To complete verification:

• You must use a unique phone number that isn’t already used by another Prolific participant.
• Your phone number must be registered in your country of residence. For more information, see Does my phone number need to correspond to my country of residence

If you don’t have access to a mobile phone, or your phone number is registered in a different country to where you currently live, you won’t be able to complete phone verification and take part on Prolific.
