All employees should create a friendly work atmosphere and be ready to assist co-workers going through menopause. It is also important for employees to communicate honestly with their manager if they require help with menopausal symptoms.

What is menopause?

Menopause is a natural process that happens when a person's menstrual periods stop permanently. This can cause hormonal changes that can be very intense.

To be considered menopausal, a person must have gone 12 consecutive months without a period and no other biological or psychological causes can be identified.

Symptoms of menopause can begin months or years before periods stop. This stage is called perimenopause. Symptoms usually last for around four years after a person's last period, but some people may experience them for much longer.


There are many signs of menopause that can impact a person's body and mind. Menopause affects people differently and signs can start during perimenopause and last for several years.

Reasonable Adjustments & Flexible Working

If you're experiencing menopause symptoms, you may need to make some changes to your daily work routine. At Prolific, we welcome requests for reasonable adjustments and flexible working as we know that small daily changes can be really helpful for someone who has menopausal symptoms.

Available support

We encourage employees to tell their manager if they have menopause symptoms that could affect their work early on. This way, we can treat these symptoms as ongoing health issues and not just one-time problems. Our focus is to make sure you feel supported during this time ❤️‍🩹
